Piper Pawnee PA-25 – 1/14th scale

Designed to 1/14th scale my Pawnee builds up into an impressive rubber powered model. Although accurate, the design is very straightforward to build, and indeed this one would make an ideal first scale model with it’s box fuselage and simple lines. Despite it’s size it circles nicely in a moderately sized hall, but is also perfect for outdoor flying too. The beautifully detailed plans show instructions to build an early PA-25 150 aircraft. The comprehensive accompanying instructions, full of photographs and hints, talk you through each stage of the build. You can see my Pawnee’s very first flights in the link, it almost flew right off the building board! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qHKJ3aStVg0

The model has a wingspan of just under 31 inches and builds into a lightweight design. To aid stability, the wing has slightly increased dihedral from scale and the tailplane is enlarged. However, these changes don’t detract from the character of the model.
My prototype flies ‘on rails’ with 2 loops of 1/8” rubber, driving an 8 inch commercial propeller. Although no details are shown on the plan, the Pawnee will convert perfectly to Radio Control, with 3 channel control (throttle/rudder/elevator).
